Born from a passion for nature photography, the Buteo Photo Gear Floating Hide Grebe II was designed by and for wildlife photographers. After numerous field tests, this new version meets your exact needs: more comfort, more efficiency and even more chances of obtaining THE perfect photo, while respecting the tranquility of wildlife.
Main features of the Floating Hide Grebe II
Tent fabric extending to the base of the float, with full reed camouflage.
Fixed snoots at the front and rear, integrated into the canvas for optimal protection and discretion.
Lower lens aperture for an even closer angle to the water surface.
Reinforced structure with an improved umbrella system for added stability.
Better adjustment of the safety net for greater peace of mind.
The observation windows are larger than ever, both front and rear. Above and next to the snoot, you benefit from a wider field of vision while remaining perfectly concealed. Thanks to the magnetic closures, you open and close the windows noiselessly and with just one gesture. Small loops hold the openings effortlessly, so you stay focused on the action.
The side handles have been redesigned and strategically placed for better balance during transport. The result: a hide that is easier to carry, even with all your equipment, to the water's edge.
The accessory bags are still included, but now waterproof (except at the zipper) and equipped with sturdy Velcro straps. With a format of 20x13x13 cm, they offer practical space for your small equipment. You simply choose whether you prefer to attach them to the front or back, depending on your setup.
The supplied floor pump has also been reinforced: more robust, more reliable and built to last. Assembly is quick and intuitive: inflate the two air chambers, install the mounting plate and ball joint, attach the safety net and bags, deploy the tent with the umbrella system and attach the canvas to the float. In just a few minutes, you're ready to go.
Warning: take the time to read the manual carefully before entering the water. Safety comes first.
The PVC used is extremely strong and resistant to wear, the same as that of inflatable rafts. Double air chambers guarantee maximum safety. Tapered ends with reinforced camouflage allow the hide to blend seamlessly into the landscape. Each attachment point is double reinforced for foolproof durability.
D-rings make it easy to attach additional nets, bags or other accessories. The tent fabric is made of 150D polyester with a water column of 2,500 mm: it can withstand a heavy downpour without any problem. Note, however, that the windows are not completely waterproof; some water may seep through these openings.
Overview of windows:
Front: 1 window above the snoot (20x7 cm), 2 side windows (10x7 cm) and 1 large upper window (22x11 cm).
Rear: same as front.
Left and right: 3 observation windows of 22x11 cm each.
All windows are equipped with mosquito nets and open easily with a cord.
Thanks to its natural camouflage, you approach birds and mammals without being spotted. The reed-patterned fabric includes multiple attachment points for attaching branches, reeds or additional netting. With the 20 sets of loops and cords provided, you adapt your hide perfectly to its environment.
Lightweight and compact, the Floating Hide Grebe II is easily transported to local ponds, marshes or natural areas. She even accompanies you by plane, for photo adventures all over the world.
Before leaving:
Always check your hide carefully before departure. Safety first. Assess the water depth, set your photo objectives and make sure the area is permitted. Visit the venue in advance to study the light and plan your session. This way you will arrive perfectly prepared.
In water:
Choose a discreet location, away from human and animal eyes. Prepare your equipment on the bank, then enter the water through the reeds or vegetation to remain invisible. Use the handles to carry the hide and, once in the water, gently pull it by the front handle or secure it with a rope, depending on your position.
During a photo shoot, fixed snoots protect your lens against splashes and reinforce your camouflage. Made from the same waterproof material as the canvas, they form a homogeneous whole. You shoot from an ultra-low perspective, almost at water level, for striking, immersive images.
The Floating Hide Grebe II comes with two waterproof accessory bags (20x13x13 cm), a sturdy safety net and a reinforced foot pump. Everything you need to have a unique photo experience, from the first outing.
